Event Details

Join Charleston Green Fair, Half-Moon Outfitters and Charleston City Paper in recognizing 40 years of Earth Day at this celebration of films at theHippodrome Theater in downtown Charleston, next to the Aquarium.  Five short films will be presented by a wide variety of non-profit organizations supporting our local community and sustainability. 

Doors will open at 6pm and the South Carolina Aquarium will kick off the evening at 6:30 by presenting "A Sheltered Sea", a film about one community's efforts to preserve their ocean. 

South Eastern Wildlife Exposition will follow with the film "A Year in the Desert", a 15 minute film showcasing the special creatures surviving the unique climate of the Anza Borrego desert.

After a brief intermission Lowcountry Earth Force will start off the second half with the short film, "Young Voices on Climate Change".  FInd out how youth are taking the reins to help save our planet.

Coastal Conservation League is up next with a fun film "Elements of Food", a closer look at what you eat and enlightening journey about rediscovering food.

The festival will conclude with an introduction by Lowcountry Local First of the 20 minute film "Greenhorns".  The story of a new generation of young farmers who are leading the way in sustainability, agriculture and economics.

After the films World Oriental Kitchen (WOK) and Charleston Green Drinks will sponsor an After Party in the theater's lobby.

Carolina Green Fair hosted over 5,000 eco-minded citizens at their Marion Square Main Event and at Finlay Park in Columbia in 2011. Our goal continues to be providing education and enlightenment to the residents of the South Carolina while promoting the local green businesses in our host cities.

The purpose of the Charleston Green Fair is to create excitement and enthusiasm for green products, services and technologies available to the residents of the Lowcountry using an environmentally responsible forum of education and entertainment.
